Why you should belong to a union

The Association is made of up of teachers and paraprofessionals. We bring educators together to improve our lives: to fight for fair pay, to ensure that working conditions in our schools are good for staff and students, and to improve the skills and training of our members. Association members look out for each other, and when we act and speak together, administrators and school boards must listen (1).

All educators should be in a union. The Association fights to protect us from unfair changes, such as school closures, workforce downsizing, sudden changes in school programming, and other disruptions. We represent members in disciplinary and grievance hearings. We provide legal and financial advice to members (2). To protect its members, CEA has the best education lawyers in the business (3).

Don’t buy into anti-union

propaganda. The Association is a member-governed organization. We have fair elections for officers and conduct ourselves transparently. For example, check out the budget of our Pikes Peak region office: bit.ly/4empX7g. The Colorado Education Association publishes a ton of information about its operations. Find out about our legislative priorities here: bit.ly/stateofed2324.

There are organizations whose purpose it is to undermine unions, like the Professional Association of Colorado Educators (PACE). They are funded by billionaires, have few employees, and are incapable of supporting educators meaningfully (4). Good luck finding real information about them.
